Skeleton Cookies

Skeleton Cookies, Lay The Table I have been chomping at the bit since mid-August to post these skeleton cookies.  It seems to me that “blog time” moves even faster than real time, and is measured from holiday to holiday. As far as keeping up, I seem to teeter on both ends of the spectrum…early or late!
Skeleton Cookies, Lay The Table I knew I was going to make some sort of skeleton cookie this Halloween, and the decision was sealed when I spotted THIS perfect skeleton model from Better Homes and Gardens!  I liked the simple lines (I LOVE “simple”) when I saw it, and knew that I would be able to make him into a cookie (or cookies to be more precise)! I simply printed the image, reduced it a bit and cut out the bones onto cardstock.
Skeleton Cookies, Lay The Table I am more into cute than creepy, so I made some friendly looking fellas. A smile makes a big difference, and the heart is the perfect ending touch.

At the time, I already had some sugar cookie dough prepared, and just added AmeriColor Gel Paste Super Black food coloring to it.  I used royal icing to decorate.

Once baked, they came together very quickly. “Quickly” is another thing I love! Skeleton Cookies, Lay The Table As you can see, he ends up being pretty “tall” when you put him together.  The ruler is 12-inches or 30 cm.
Skeleton Cookies, Lay The Table I’m going to bag each skeleton and give one to each of my munchkins as a “bag o’ bones”:) I know they’ll have fun playing with the skeleton, arranging his bones, and finally, munching on them.
