Ive been sent some Cheese and Tomato Cheestrings and Cheese Spaghetti for the kids and as its Halloween AND half-term I got them involved in making these cheesy-stringy-spooky pizzas.
As the youngest said: Woo-hoo. In both senses of the phrase. OK, the peppers shaped like a black cat, a ghost and a pumpkin arent immediately recognisable as such. And, OK, the scary Cheestring man isnt exactly in the Freddie Kruger league. But hey, come on, theyre kids. Its better than knocking on doors and scaring old ladies theyre reserving that for Halloween Night.
Give them a go, should you be minded. My lot were-wolfed them down. Fer-nah!
What youll need for 2 pizzas for 2-4 kids.
2 ready-made pizza bases (I used Napolina)
Half jar margherita pizza-base sauce or tomato passata
2-3 packs Cheese and Tomato Cheestrings
2 packets Cheese Spaghetti
100-150g wafer-thin cut ham
Handful of pitted black olives
3 halves of different coloured peppers, deseeded (I used red, orange and yellow)
Handful cherry or Santini tomatoes
1. For each pizza, use a tablespoon to coat each base with a thin layer of margherita sauce or passata.
2. Now follow the steps below to build up a picture for each pizza. Use Halloween cookie cutters to cut out the shapes of a cat, ghost and pumpkin from half of each pepper (you could grill and peel the peppers first, if preferred, but my kids like them crunchy). Use long thin pepper slices to create a frame around a pizza. Peel apart the Cheestrings and Cheese Spaghetti to make hair, arms, bodies and faces. Use black olives for eyes and mouths.

Pizza 1: Add Cheese Spaghetti for the hair
Pizza 2: Use cookie rings to make spooky shapes from the peppers. Heres a black, well, orange, cat

Pizza 2: Add your sauce to the base, then scatter the wafer-thin ham
Pizza2: Create some spiral arms from the Cheestrings
Pizza 2: Make a frame from long thin strips of red pepper and dot a few black olives around
Pizza 2: Add the spooky pepper shapes and carve up a few olives to make eyes. Scatter with Cheese Spaghetti.
3. Once youre happy with your works of art, cook the pizzas in a pre-heated oven at 200C/Gas for 10 mins until the base is crispy. Allow to cool and little and serve with green salad.
