Burger Bites {Cookies}

Burger Bites {Cookies}, Lay The Table I have been meaning to make the hamburger cookies that I’ve seen all over blogland, but most recently here (at Laura’s blog, Come Together Kids). Aren’t they cute?  I decided to kick the cutenss factor up a notch by using mini vanilla wafers/Hershey’s kisses and making itty-bitty, one-bite burger cookies. They turned out even better than I had hoped:) Burger Bites {Cookies}, Lay The Table I made one original size hamburger cookie to illustrate the size difference. I just love the tiny version!

Here’s everythiing  you’ll need for the burger bites, along with instructions on how to throw them together(no baking involved)

Burger Bites {Cookies}, Lay The Table You’ll need:  mini vanilla wafers(bun), sesame seeds for top bun(optional), Hershey’s kisses(meat patty), small sharp knife, shredded coconut (tinted green with some food coloring for the lettuce), royal icing in decorator bags(some tinted yellow for mustard & some tinted red for ketchup).
Burger Bites {Cookies}, Lay The Table Use the small (new) paint brush to apply a scant amount of corn syrup to the top of one mini wafer cookie and then sprinkle sesame seeds over the area.

Apply some yellow icing to the bottom of the other mini cookie and place the prepared* candy kiss on the “mustard” to adhere it to the bottom “bun”.

  *To prepare the “hamburger patty” take a small, sharp knife and cut/shave off the pointy top of the kiss (save it for later or snack as you go:)).

Add the red icing to underside of the sesame seed top bun and place some of the coconut on top of the red icing. Place it on top of the Hershey kiss, icing side down.  (I’m glad I used the royal icing because after it dried, it made for sturdy burger bites, and they all held together perfectly!)

And there you have it~ adorable itty-bitty burger bites! Here’s four of them on a teeny cupcake stand:)

I got a bit carried away and made about 3 dozen of the little guys.

Just think how cute these burger bites would be alongside some real burgers at a barbecue, or for dessert after some sliders:)

These tiny tasty treats were so fun to make and just as fun to eat!  Make them part of your 4th of July celebration…No need to turn the oven on and heat up the kitchen!
