Haagen-Dazs Salted Caramel Icecream

Haagen-Dazs Salted Caramel in a tub with bowl

I’ve got a backlog of posts…not only in my folders but in my mind and in my cupboards. There’s been weekends where I’ve intended to be making something and bought all the ingredients only to find I don’t have time to get on with it. And you know what happens if you try and rush a recipe – total disaster! Today I’m going to start tackling some of this backlog and the first step is writing about this new icecream from Haagen-Dazs.

If you don’t know, am ADDICTED to salted caramel. I will try anything with that flavour and so when I was sent this new frozen treat to try, I could hardly wait 10 minutes for the icecream to soften before ripping off the lid. Mr LTT and I only ever eat icecream with a teaspoon…it’s just a thing both of us have always done, even since before we got together! We dipped in, carefully running our spoons around the softened edges where it scooped easily onto the spoon. Wow!

The icecream is a gentle caramel flavour which is swirled with an incredible salted caramel sauce. But it doesn’t stop there…there’s little pieces of crunchy salty caramel, so you get a little bite in there too.

Now, if you grew up eating Werther’s Originals, it tastes EXACTLY like them. It would not be a lie if I said that Mr LTT and I may have consumed two thirds of a tub one evening. You think “just one more mouthful” and then salty sweetness just lures you right back in. The salt is not too strong, it is a consistent flavour as there’s no big flakes of sea salt in there and the caramel is delicious but not overpowering so you don’t feel over sugared when you finally tear yourself away from the tub. I think it may be my new favourite off the shelf icecream.

Haagen-Dazs salted caramel is available from Waitrose in pint tubs, though I can’t find anything about it on the official Haagen-Dazs website!

Disclaimer: I was sent the icecream to review for free as I am part of the Haagen-Dazs loves club. All opinions expressed as my own and I am not required to write positively about the product.

Hi! I'm Becs, one half of a newlywed couple from Leeds. I really love baking and a lot of the things I make are dairy-free since Mr LTT is dairy intolerant. Sometimes I make healthy stuff too. My desert island food would be dim sum!

Lay the table has now been running for 6 whole years! I can't believe it. Read More…
